In order to qualify as a psychotherapist, I first completed a Certificate in Counselling at the University of South Wales. I then undertook extensive training at Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling, gaining a Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and a Masters Degree in Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapy. This was a seven year course of in-depth study. As part of that training I completed a one year placement at a hospice bereavement service and a second year’s placement at an inpatient acute psychiatric ward. In my final years I studied Ecopsychotherapy, completing a research dissertation on the relationship between landscape and integrative psychotherapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am a qualified supervisor, having attained an initial Diploma in Supervision at Iron Mill College then a further UKCP Diploma at CSTD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prior to training as a psychotherapist, I worked in Secondary Education for 18 years. I had completed a Masters Degree in Geography at Cambridge University, and PGCE at Bristol University, and initially I worked as a Geography teacher. I then trained in Special Educational Needs, working particularly with children with social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. I held posts including Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator and Head of Inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
