I am a UKCP Registered Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapist. I studied Psychotherapy at Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling, where I completed a six year training, completing a Masters and Diploma in Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapy. This training and qualification place me in Column C, the highest level, of the SCoPEd Framework (the national framework of standards for counsellors and psychotherapists, accepted by the six accrediting bodies).
My training is in Integrative Psychotherapy. This means that I have studied a range of approaches and styles, and have acquired a broad understanding of psychotherapeutic theories. In my practice I draw on Psychodynamic Theory, Object Relations Theory, Intersubjective Theory and Gestalt Theory amongst others. I am particularly interested in Ecopsychotherapy, which can involve working outdoors, and have written a paper exploring how Object Relations Theory can inform Ecopsychotherapy.
I offer supervision to psychotherapists, counsellors and individuals working in helping professions. I completed an initial Diploma in Supervision at Iron Mill College in Exeter, then a further Diploma in Supervision at CSTD in Bath (this higher level course is UKCP accredited).
I have worked as a Bereavement Counsellor at St Margaret’s Hospice.
Before training as a psychotherapist I was a secondary school teacher for nearly twenty years, predominantly working with pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
